Watch the movie "UP" and then have students complete this packet of questions aligned with 7th grade standards to determine if "Up" is mathematically accurate.

Students compare linear quadratic and exponential functions.

Students must solve various math equations, operations and exponential forms to find what number is represented in each section of the pi symbol. Then students must color the symbol accordingly. Includes: 2 step equations, decimal and fraction multiplication and division, absolute value, exponents, integer operations (positive and negative),and square roots

Project to assess students' understanding of parallel lines and transversals vocabulary.

This is a writing assignment to get students to understand the concept of a solution to a system of linear equations. Students are asked to write a speech to the systems of equations as the solution to the system. The topic they choose to write about is up to them. It includes directions, a rubric and 2 examples.

In 6th grade students learn the basic foundations of statistics- how to collect, analyze, and discuss data. This project allows students to authentically experience the process. First, students will create their own statistical questions. They will then collect data to answer their question and organize their data into different displays (Part 1). Next, students will use measures of center and range to describe their data (Part 2). Then, students will create a box plot and find the interquartil

Students demonstrate their understanding of Linear Functions.

Fun and easy end of the year activity for students of all ages. Download this to your google drive and share it with your students! Students can fill in the dictionary using words they learned throughout the year. I used this with my 6th grade class but it can easily be edited for any grade level (only the title page would need to be edited).

Students solve the 2 step inequalities and fill in the crossword with their solutions. Worksheet and answer sheet included.

Students must solve each inequality, the next one always depending on their previous answer to solve the final inequality and plot the solution on a number line.

In this integrated project students will research the importance of cuisine to a culture's identity. They will then use proportional reasoning to bring that recipe to life in a multi-cultural food celebration.

This is a lesson I use to introduce the definition of function. It is one of my students favorite lessons, and gets the students out of their seats and involved. When I print progress reports/report cards I always attach this reflection as well. So that students can reflect on their grades and really think about why their grade is what it is and how they can improve it in the future.

Students answer a variety of 6th grade level math problems to find the secret message. Once they have found the message the remaining numbers will give the first 18 digits of Pi.

Students place square roots, cube roots and absolute value problems on a number line to discover a secret message.

Students will use a piece of dubble bubble gum to answer the questions: How much paper is wasted in wrapping dubble bubble gum? How much gum is in each piece of dubble bubble gum? I have 2 versions, one that details every step exactly and one that requires a little more thinking on the students' parts. I have also included an answer sheet, although answers will vary greatly with the actual measuring.

Four different boards containing 16 different 2 step equations. Students must solve each equation so that when the solution is called out they can find it on their boards.

Students use what they know about discounts, tax and sales lingo to determine the best deal.

Using playing cards as manipulatives students can work together to figure out how to create box plots with 7,8,9,10, or 11 cards.
