Line Plot (Graphing)

Students pick a sentence and read it. They complete the chart by writing Xs on the line below. Then they erase and pick another sentence to read and graph. I recommend laminating so that students can erase their work and pick another sentence to graph. This is a fun way to learn how graph on a line plot.

Dry Erase Bar Graphing

Students pick a sentence and read it. Then they label and graph the information on the bar graph. I recommend laminating these worksheets so that students are able to erase and pick another problem to work on. It is a fun way to learn how to label and complete a bar graph.

Line Plot (Graphing) 2

Students grab two hands full of colored cubes and count however many of each color they have. Then they write Xs over each color showing how many of each color they have. It is a fun way for students to learn how to create line graphs. I recommend laminating the worksheet so that students can do several line plots and not have to use up so much paper.

Experience

I have taught second grade two years, kindergarten two years. I student taught in grades K-5 for two years. I also substitute for grades K-2 and worked in a K-2 after school program for three years. I have a total of 9 years of learning and working with children.

Teaching style

My teacher style is to be open with my students. I love to relate to my students so I make it a point to talk about my experiences as I teach so that we can make connections and they remain focused and interested. I have found that becoming friends with my students creates a healthy relationship and my students want to learn and please. This makes them great students and they grow so quickly.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I graduated with the Cum Laude award.

My own education history

I graduated with my Bachelor of Science and Early Childhood Education degree from North Georgia University with honors. I also graduated with a Masters in Early Childhood Education. I have endorsements and am certified to teach in Gifted, English Language Learners, and Reading.

Additional biographical information

I have been married for two years and we just had our first baby. I am obsessed with my husband and little baby. My best friends are my sisters, parents, and sister-in law. My favorite past time and happy place are afternoons with family watching my nephews play outside. If there is music and watermelon involved, it's a plus.
