About the store

Experience

I have been a full-time teacher since the fall of 2006, and I worked as a substitute while I was getting my education degree in order to reboot myself as a teacher. I also teach percussion in the summer.

Teaching style

Humor is a major weapon for me, since I feel it connects me with the kids and lightens the mood. Discipline comes first, however, so the levels of humor I will use with a given class may vary depending on the maturity of the students. It is important for us to teach our students how to be good citizens, or the academic side of the equation is easily lost on them.

Additional biographical information

I will be adding play scripts from time to time. Prior to becoming a teacher, one area I had explored was that of children's theater. I toured briefly with a children's theater group (as a percussionist) and have incorporated this experience into teaching, plays and my summer position teaching percussion.
