This math powerpoint presentation teaches students numbers through fifty. This lesson is aligned with the skills covered in 10.3 Houghton Mifflin Math - 1st grade. The first page is a homework check aligned with the math book. The lesson opens with the "Problem of the Day" in which students are given a multi-step word problem. The next few slides are cuisenaire rods and individual blocks, along with tens/ones place mats in which students are to identify how many tens, how many ones, then det
This powerpoint teaches students the concepts of numbers 1-5 and how to count up on a number line. The lesson opens with a title page, then the objectives/importance page, and includes higher order thinking prompt. Next, the fun begins! A boy with a butterfly net appears and students count along as he catches one bug, and jumps to 1 on the number line. Then, catches another bug and jumps to 2 on the number line, etc. until he gets to 5. Last, it shows the number line and shows the amount of
This powerpoint lesson teaches students to identify prime and composite numbers, determine whether a number is prime or composite, and to find the multiples of prime and composite numbers. It opens with a title page and lists the daily objectives. The lesson also states why this information is relevant (something students always tend to ask in math, 'why do I need to know this?'). Next, it discusses vocabulary "prime number" and "composite number" in great detail, along with examples. It the
This math powerpoint presentation teaches students place value through 99. This lesson is aligned with the skills covered in 10.5 Houghton Mifflin Math - 1st grade. This can be used as a supplemental assessment or worksheet to lessons on estimating sums and differences. It can also be used as homework, if needed. This 2 page worksheet starts with an example of how to estimate the sum of 477 and 592, round each addend to the nearest ten and then add the rounded numbers. It then gives students two problems (one addition and one subtraction) to round to the nearest ten, then estimate. The next page gives a list of craft supplies with prices, along with wor
This is a math Activ Studio Flipchart that teaches subtraction concepts, i.e. using symbols to subtract. This lesson aligns with the Houghton Mifflin Math Textbook series. The flipchart begins with the Problem of the Day, in which students are to solve a constructed response subtraction word problem using hands-on manipulatives on the Activ Board. Next, it reviews the subtraction symbol and what a subtraction sentence looks like. Next, the students demonstrate on a calendar with counters to
This math powerpoint lesson is great for teaching students to read, write, and understand the concept of numbers 0-100. The slide opens with colored-straws to represent numbers 1 blue straw = one, 2 yellow straw = two, etc. The next slide shows numbers 1-10 represented with blue cubes. Then the next several slides shows how we count on from ten in a shorter form - for instance, what if a bundle of straws represents 10? So if we have one bundle and two straws on the side, that makes 12. The
This cut and paste activity is great for teaching students the concept of the number 7. It's ideal for teaching a class along with the story, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle (but not mandatory to do so). The students must cut 7 pieces of fruit and paste to the leaf for the caterpillar - one for every day of the week.
*This product is just the assessment itself, although I taught this with my Comprehensive Unit Plan (CUP): 7 Days of the Week - which is also for sale, and has a lo
This assessment goes along with my powerpoint presentation "Count Numbers (Bugs) 1-5 on a Number Line." You can purchase these individually or together. This file is specifically the activity/assessment in PDF file. It works well as a center activity or an assessment if you're teaching numbers 1-5. It has 5 pages with numbers and 5 pages with bugs, each number page has a number 1-5 and a butterfly net (oval shape). Students are to cut the bug page page and paste it to its corresponding numb
This handout assesses students' knowledge of sequencing numbers one through ten. A number line is provided along with 6 problems that students must use a number line to solve. Vocabulary terms such as "just before," "just after," "one more than," and "two more than," are used.
This is a worksheet for assessing student knowledge of prime and composite numbers. Students are given a chart, the first chart lists numbers, and the next two column asks students to provide the factors of each number, then the third column asks students to indicate whether it is "prime" or "composite." Next, students are given a set of four numbers and are asks to circle the number that is prime. Last is a higher order thinking (HOT) question relating to prime and composite numbers.
This cut and paste activity/assessment is great for teaching the number 5. Students are bug-catchers and have to put 5 bugs in their net!
This product is just the activity, but I have a powerpoint presentation listed as, "Count Numbers (Bugs) 1-5 on a Number Line" that has a cute lesson to go along with this assessment.
