Thank you for visiting – this is the Mars Colonization Project that served as the end of my terrestrial planets overview. It has multiple different worksheets and assignments, but is all capped off by a large research project where students work to create their own self-functioning Mars Colony. In addition, I made it required for all students to create some type of 3D model with their space colony. Students that took this seriously had A BLAST! This is a general list with about 5-10 drills for each competitive stroke in swimming (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly). One of the first group projects I gave in Astronomy - it consists of groups working to research different concepts to colonize the moon. I would usually have them make a power point AND a visual aid, like a promotion poster or flyer they would give out. Students really seemed to enjoy the open-ended ability of the project. Great activity that I used with my 9th grade Physical Science classes to really drive home the concept of Ionic Bonding. It also pulls in Chance and definitely helps eliminate any chance of copying or cheating - truly shows what the student knows! This is a small template that I have used before exams to better allow students to gauge their learning. It allows them to see if they are able to truly answer the learning targets asked. It suggests students rank their own learning on a scale of 1-5 ( 1 needing the most help / 5 meaning they are a professor). Included in this worksheet are 2 different Distance-Time Graphs. The first graph does have time and labels, so it is a great introduction into how to calculate speed (or velocity) from the graph. This is a great activity I do in the beginning of the year. I explain to student that they will be playing "I Spy" in class with their partners - but their descriptions have to be qualitative and quantitative observations. It is something that they already know how to do and can relate to -- but now we are adding a more "scientific language" to something they already know! This is a Word Document so you can change up anything you may wish with it!
