About the store
I have been working as a math coach and consultant for Math Solutions, a group started by Marilyn Burns (my hero!). Before that, I taught 1st, 2nd 4th, 5th, and 6th grades over the course of 12 years. My classroom was fun and engaging... a safe and happy space for kids to learn and share. I am especially passionate about elementary math. Over the years, I have collected and conducted research, and I currently provide professional development workshops and coaching for teachers. I work hard to ensure that all my students feel confident and happy at school.

Comparing Fractions with Multiple Representations

Hello teachers and parents! It is so important for students to understand multiple representations of fractions. This activity and lesson plan helps students compare fractions using drawings and number lines, as well as by finding fractions of a whole number (1/2 of 12 is 6) and describing reasoning with words (I know 3/4 is greater than 1/2 because 2/4 is equal to 1/2). This activity comes with a worksheet and lesson plan (learning target, Common Core standards, directions, and discussion qu

Teaching style

My approach to elementary math is hands-on, concept-based learning. Kids should create their own understanding of math concepts through exploration with manipulatives, drawings, and discussion. I believe that ALL students are mathematicians.
