I use this hands on lesson to help students understand statistical questions more in depth by putting it into practice (asking others questions and determining if the question is statistical or not). Print the first two pages front to back and cut in half (each student will get a half sheet that is printed front and back).
Use this assignment to have students write their own story problems according to an algebraic equation. Students can solve the problem as well. There are 12 total that equations range from easy to hard.
Split the class into four groups (or if you edit this document and make more questions you will have more groups). Give each group the same data sheet / same question. Have the group practice asking their question to each other and recording the data. Then explain that everyone in the class will walk around, ask their question to the other people in class that they haven't asked yet and record the data. Once everyone has their data the groups will get back together and work on finding the me
