Novel Unit Reading Comprehension SRCS

SRCS (rhymes with sharks) stands for Summary, Reaction, Connection, Sketch. This packet allows you to decide the chunks of chapters for each SRCS and provides space for students to answer the questions you develop and to keep track of characters. It is a great way to make sure students are engaging with the text and allows you the flexibility to customize the focus question for a given section. I also use SRCS for class discussions and literature circles.

Then there is a description of the elements of an interesting story followed by a breakdown of the interesting story into the pattern they will learn. Students then outline their own story and then edit/revise using the handout in the packet. The final page conta

Parent meeting form for student behavior and academics

This student behavior and academic data form is great for IEPs, SSTs, and parent conferences in middle school. I struggled for many years with covering where a student is succeeding and where a student needs to improve. This form lists basic middle school behavior expectations and the teacher checks of how well they are doing on each expectation. The bottom of the form provides an academic snapshot. I find it is a great visual for parents since it often shows their child is doing some things wel
