Around the World Roller Coaster Research This ready-to-use, guided research worksheet can be used for a unit on Roller Coasters in Physics, Design, Technology, etc. Students go to a website to research roller coasters located around the world on all 6 continents. They then fill in the worksheet based on their research. Great information for a discussion on what makes a roller coaster the best. Also use as a ready-made sub plan! This aligns with the Common Core Learning Standards in read
I have students complete this guided research worksheet on forces, loads and shapes before the Straw Tower Engineering Challenge (posted on TPT). It is also a good, standalone lesson. Also use as a ready-made sub plan! This aligns with the Common Core Learning Standards in reading and writing for Technical subjects. (Answers to the worksheet can be obtained from the website. You can print the text version of the lab, link is under the lab activity.)
Engineering Challenge that involves students brainstorming, working in teams and applyingtheir knowledge of forces, shapes and loads to design, build and test their straw tower. I use this in my Architectural Drawing class. It can also be used in Math, Science and other Engineering Technology classes. This is a 2-page resource. The second page includes testing criteria and a scoring table. Also see my forces, shapes and loads research worksheet that I have students complete before this ac
This is a fun activity for middle school or high school students. Use common materials, including candy, to determine the mechanical properties of that material. The students then use this knowledge to design an object (back of worksheet). This is a good introduction or culminating activity for a mechanical properties unit. Make sure you have extra candy available for hungry students! Includes 2 pages for theworksheet + my cover page
Airplanes and Flight Test This airplane and flight test (with answer key) can be used as a pre-test to assess students' existing knowledge or as an end-of-unit test to evaluate their understanding of concepts. Includes 35 multiple-choice questions with answer key. If you like this resource, please rate it on TPT!
