I struggle often with finishing a math lesson and being unsure of who really understood the skill and who is still struggling. I am now creating 'exit slips' for the end of math lessons. There is 1 problem on each slip as well as a 'self assessment' question at the bottom. The choices are:

This problem was a little hard.
This problem was easy.

2 weeks of morning work ('short shots') that address common core standards in math and literacy. Math standards are listed below each problem. 1 problem for each day, Each problem includes a sentences with errors as well as math/literacy questions. On Fridays, there is a 'short shot quiz' to assess the skills addressed in the morning work throughout the week.
