This is the full curriculum I use for teaching Algebra 1. It contains all the TEKS and they are deconstructed for you with basic explanations. I print these out and hand them out first of the year, then we work through them together cutting and pasting in STAAR questions and examples from their books, then the kids have a complete study guide come STAAR time. It's also a great way to show growth, and easy for administrators doing walk throughs, you can show them the exact TEK you are working on.
I use this scavenger hunt to take a break from STAAR review and give the students a bit of a 'fun' assignment. You can project or read the directions, I typically pass out a copy to each student. They really like it and helps test their knowledge of the periodic table. A Clue style mystery with clues leading to who the 'murderer' is. One student gets to play the murderer which is revealed through their search. There are 3 different types of clues, one is the murder (labeled Packet A1) make sure
I use this song analyzation to introduce a unit on feminism to my all-girls class. It can be used middle school through high school. I do make sure to explain the events of 9/11 in age appropriate terms first. It makes a great activity to do on or around 9/11. The girls really seem to get into it, not only the ones who are interested acting but also my little science enthusiasts. It's an all included packet; makes a great sub-plan although I personally like dancing around to the song and having
This is a project I created for my middle school students. We work on it after STAAR and while waiting for scores, because it's a great way to release stress after cramming for the test. The kids get to be creative and design their own business, it's a fully 'self-guided' packet, that walks them through forming a business, calculating net and gross profit and overhead, as well as teaching them the basics of income tax! The students really get into it, because they feel like it's relevant to the
Full Study Guide filled with sample questions as well as STAAR advice. I send it home as homework about a month before STAAR for my students, also makes great activity in class. Fully in line with TEKS contains everything they need to know.
I made this writing prompt for my 6th Grade Study skills class when we were learning about philosophy and feminism. It is to accompany the movie "Barbie: Princess Charm School". It includes a point system as well as numerous prompts.
