13 years full-time teaching Geography (Earth/Social/Environmental Sciences). Seven of those years as Head of Department.
I have been fortunate that my career so far has led to amazing professional development, such as organising field trips as close as the Norfolk Coast and as far away as Yellowstone National Park.
In 2013 I was part of a group who worked with teachers in Malawi.
In 2017-18 I went on a year-long sabbatical, mostly in the United States. I spent two months in Colorado working with climate scientists at NOAA, and two months in California working at the Exploratorium museum in San Francisco. My experiences were shared via my blog at <a href="http://geogramblings.com">Geogramblings.com</a>, which also acts as a resource bank for other teachers.

Liquid Climate Graphs
Full lesson materials to demonstrate how climate graphs work using water and bottles. You'll need a set of used washed drinks bottles (500ml-ish), blue food colouring and some string. Of course, I cannot supply you with the physical materials over the internet! Teaching style
Active, sometimes dramatic! (Also have a drama background). I usually like to steer away from using textbooks, but do see the value of them with some learning objectives and lessons. I aim to be very visual, interactive and creative with my resources.I am a total digital geek - and like to use GIS and social media in learning (e.g. <a href="http://twitter.com/geogramblings">Twitter</a> and <a href="https://www.facebook.com/geogramblings/">Facebook</a>).
Awards & shining teacher moments
My work has often been used as examples of outstanding practise within my regional network (Norfolk, UK). In 2013 and 2016 I led the Geography department at my school to the UK's Geographical Association's Secondary Geography Quality Mark (SGQM) National Award and Centre of Excellence, in which lesson provision, planning and materials formed a substantial part (see <a href="http://www.geography.org.uk/11-19/secondaryqualitymark/">the GA SGQM page.</a>). I have articles published in national educational magazines and give talks, lectures, training and CPD to teachers and trainee teachers nation-wide.
My own education history
A degree in Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia, UK (2001-2004). Completed my teacher training in 2005.
