For every event in history, there are multiple perspectives, and this activity allows students to explore both sides of the Reign of Terror. Students will look at two different primary source accounts of the Reign of Terror. Students will go through the process of thinking and analyzing a document like a historian. They have the chance to practice the skills of sourcing, close reading, and corroborating sources. Along the way there are comprehension and critical thinking questions. The works

This is a simple worksheet for students to record their opening and closing activities for the week. I originally created this for my Social Studies class because I was frustrated with having too many papers, and I wanted to simplify my system of organization. And it works! When students come into the classroom, they immediately start recording their Do Now on this worksheet. There is a space for each day of the week. The back of the worksheet has a space for two Exit Tickets. Twice a week I li

Experience

I have been teaching Social Studies in New York City schools, both public and charter. I primarily work in inner city school districts, as I think that is the area where the best educators are needed. My students are the reason why I love this profession.

Teaching style

I believe that in order for students to be successful in history, they need to read, write and speak it. And my materials reflect opportunities for students to practice all of these skills. I have a student-centered "hands on,-minds on" approach. Students can be seen working together analyzing and evaluating primary sources. They will then debate with their peers about these sources and bigger historical issues, where they practice using evidence to support claims, and exploring rebuttals. Students also have the opportunity to take their words and put it into writing where they can fully synthesize their learning.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was nominated by administration for Big Apple Awards, celebrating outstanding educators. I also was voted "Most Strictest Teacher" by my students.

My own education history

I graduated Binghamton University with a degree in History Magna Cum Laude. Afterwards, I received my Masters from Hunter College in Social Studies Education for Adolescents Grades 7-12.
