I created this model to teach the following skills using a whole text approach: sizzling starts, five senses description of setting, mirror technique description of protagonist, dialogue creating rising tension using pebble - brick - boulder strategy, resolution, use of continuous metaphor or motif, and use of theme. It has worked wonderfully well across grades from year 3 right through to year 8. Please note on the second page the typo "conform" instead of "confirm". I used this to reinforce pr
I like to begin each year by orienting students to their class, their teacher, and their school, by incorporating a presentation that empowers them with information to keep them safe and happy while at school and in class, and also think about the big questions of "why" we're here and what we want to get out of the experience. I have created a sheet for students to paste into their technology books. This sheet indicates all the lessons for the Codemonster section of the free online coding lessons at Crunchzilla.com. The sheet outlines the connection to NESA syllabus outcomes, and provides instructions for students on how to use it. Students work through the lessons at their own pace, noting the date they complete each section and then writing a reflection in their books. It has worked wonderfully well. Students have
This STEM rubric relates to a task that requires groups of students to design and create a model of a farm paddock with a specific perimeter. It would suit students in years 3-7. It allows for the teacher to assess and for students to self-assess. It is a great piece for a portfolio and provides a good stimulus for students to reflect on their attitudes and skills.
This feedback sheet allows you to report to parents or compile your own records relating to students' self-management skills, book work, social skills, thinking skills, attitudes, and development of international mindedness.
If you are reporting to parents or administrators in your school you may wish to use this sheet to collect the data and provide a "big picture" starting position for each student.
