This is one of my top selling products! I made this powerpoint lesson as an alternative way to teach telling time to the hour and half past the hour. The presentation explains the hands of the clock and how to read them. I have a little 'trick' to help them remember. There are also examples for the kids to go through together.
This ia a wonderful book by Shel Silverstein that looks at a boy as he ages and what he needs as he grows up. We infer on a daily basis without realizing it. Students are challenged to infer what the tree represents in the story.
As part of the science curriculum, students are expected to learn plant life cycles. This is powerpoint can be printed and laminated and used as a poster to show the different steps. This also assists in building appropriate science vocabulary.
This is a rubric I use when assessing grade 3 or 4 paragraphs. It looks at topic, details and grammar. I simply highlight their level so I can see it clearer. As I've copied 2 on one page, you could attach this to the students work.
This is a presentation explaining the difference between nouns and adjectives. Students are given an opportunity after each mini lesson to identify the noun or adjective in the sentences provided. I end with a short story where the students have to fill in the blank with an adjective. This can be used with any age group to encourage students to make their writing interesting.
I use this rubric to assess my grade 4 recount stories. (checking for the main idea, organization, transitions, conventions)I sometimes give the students the rubric and have them assess their own work.

When I teach narratives, I always discuss what characteristics/elements must be included in their story. I made these posters to serve as visuals in the classroom to remind students of what needs to be included.
Works for any grade.
Enjoy!
I like to recognize students for a job well done, good manners, keeping our classroom clean and other good behavior, not necessarily for good grades. This template allows you to fill in the student's name, what you are awarding them for and your signature. Praise works for any age group.
My students are learning how to write a summary. I made this 'tips' page to help the students remember what is needed in a good summary such as main idea, gist word and using your own words. I've put 3 checklists on a page. Students can tape this to their desk or glue into their language notebook.
I have created this product to help my students understand Stem and Leaf plots/charts that we learn in our Data Management unit. This is meant for a junior math class as a teaching tool for teachers. Within these 25 slides, I go over the steps to identifying the stem and the leaves of numbers and how to sort them.
I like sending a newsletter home to parents after the first day of school to introduce myself and how things run in my class. This is a sample of a September newsletter to parents.
I created this rubric for my grade 3 students. We went over success criteria at the beginning and are reminded to include all 5 parts of a friendly letter and must include 3 items/ideas in the body of the message. In the rubric you will also see for revisions that I use an acronym CUPS (capitals, understanding, punctuation and spelling). There are 2 rubrics per page to save on photocopying. Hope you find this useful!
I use this template to input my general subjects that I teach daily. Then in the spaces provided I write my lessons in detail. Good to have on hand if there's a supply teacher, as it is easy to follow. This was created in Word, so the document can be changed to suit your teaching subjects and times.
This is a newsletter I send home to parents on the first week of grade four in preparation for the coming year.

*good mental health
*classroom rules
*homework expectations
*communication through agendas
*safe home arrival
Can be editted to suit your own classroom.
Summarizing! This is a one page worksheet that you can get your students to complete after they have read a piece of text. They are also encouraged to make a text connection.
Kids have a difficult time keeping their working environment tidy. How can they produce any neat, clear work? Over the years I have collected little odd and ends (dollar store items) that I give as reward for being tidy. Before the students come back in from recess, they find a note from the tidy fairy and then can choose something from my prize box. Kids that didn't receive a tidy fairy note soon realize that they should keep their space tidy in order to get a treat. Works everytime! It also sa
