This lesson uses a picture book and a hands on approach to teach grade 8 students the formula for Pythagorean Theory. Students will place sticky notes on a map in order to discover the formula A squared + B squared = C squared. This is a 3 part math lesson designed for visual learners and collaboration.

This is a unit plan, formative assessment and summative assessment for ordering decimals and numbers to 100,000 (Grade 5). The summative consists of an achievement chart, observation and product. (Note: There is no application section in the summative. That will be completed with the multiplication and division part of number sense). It would be beneficial to have Math Makes Sense to go along with some of the lessons in this unit.
