About the store

Experience

I have been teaching for over 20 years; 10 years in K-6, and the remainder in junior high. I have worked with students with learning disabilities, mild mental handicaps, ADHD, brain injuries, and other health impairments. I also have experience homeschooling through 6th grade.

Teaching style

I believe in meeting students where they are and taking them where they need to be. Teaching is an interactive experience with my students. I integrate technology, manipulatives, grouping, individualization, and innovative practices into my classes. I can't often find just what I need to meet my students' needs, so I create what is needed. I love finding ways for myself and my students to organize so as not to lose any of the precious data we work so hard to collect!

Awards & shining teacher moments

My greatest achievement as a teacher is EVERY time I hear a student say, "Oh, I get it now!"

My own education history

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and a Master's Degree in Education.

Additional biographical information

I am a mother of three special needs individuals (all adults now), one with ADHD, one with a mild mental handicap, and one with a moderate/severe mental handicap and chronic illness. Navigating them through school has given me so much more experience than teaching alone ever could have!
