This project leads your students through a group project to create a presentation where they teach the class to do a simple task. It meets TEKS for Public Speaking, Communication Applications, Business Communications, and Professional Communications. Students will work together to plan, organize, and present a demonstration to teach the audience a new skill. The unit includes slides, notes, quizzes, rubric, forms for group work evaluation, speech outline, and examples of student work.

This lesson consists of slides and notes to promote understanding of passive and active listening. The steps of active listening are explored through a scenarios where the students imagine they are a manager at a local business. They must listen to employees and customers in several scenarios to be able to respond well. A template for students to take notes is also included in the lesson.

This unit culminates in a professional job interview that the student will complete with a member of school administration. To prepare for the interview, there are a week of lessons and activities including notes, games, resume prep and more.

This is a group of lessons that should take about 5 days to complete. Students will be introduced to concepts of color theory and will have opportunity to use the concepts in a painting project as a group. The groups will present a back-drop mock-up in a formal presentation.

This is a 2-3 week unit bundle to examine the role of the forensic progression of discussion, persuasion, and debate in dealing with controversial issues. The unit includes reading assignments, discussion prompts for students, research help for a controversial topic, and debate prep for the topic. This unit uses the spring 2024 Lincoln-Douglas debate topic for UIL. "Resolved: Standardized testing is detrimental to equity in K-12 education."

This is a 2 week unit that covers historical and contemporary use of debate in social, political, and religious arenas. It includes a unit guide, daily reading, quizzes, project based learning, and a final unit test. This unit is designed to be used in the debate 1, 2, 3, or 4 classroom.
