Bring Algebra 1 to life through real-world business planning, financial literacy, and project-based learning. In this engaging Algebra 1 project, students become entrepreneurs as they design and analyze their own business using core Algebra 1 concepts. Students apply mathematics to realistic financial situations including startup costs, pricing, profit, revenue, graphing, linear equations, systems of equations, inequalities, and data analysis. Designed for Alternative Learning Environments (ALE
Teach Elements, Compounds, and Mixtures (MS-PS1-1) through the 5Es: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate. Mastery-Based assessment included for the following standard: MS-PS1-1 Develop models to describe the atomic composition of simple molecules and extended structures.
Engaging, Project-Based Geometry Assessments:Popsicle Stick House Construction: Students explore geometry concepts through designing and building a model house using popsicle sticks. This project ties to standards focusing on lines, angles, congruence, triangle properties, and geometric constructions.Quilting: Students design a quilt pattern that incorporates geometric principles like congruence, similarity, and area calculations, with opportunities to prove geometric theorems and apply real-wor
After exploring the concept of density. Use this as the "Explain" for the 5E learning model. This will help students further understand what they have learned about density during their labs (density blocks and density column).
In my classroom I like the students to track their progress as we learn the standards. I made a tracking sheet on a four point scale for each of the middle school Next Generation Science Standards. They place a sticker in each box as they progress on each of the standards. Hope this helps you help your students take ownership over their learning.
