Students roll the cube and if it lands on the smiley, they must think of a smart decision that they could make given the situation. If it lands on the "trouble" side, they must think of a decision that would be a poor decision. This teaches children to think about possible decisions and practice th

About the store

Experience

I have taught in both public and private schools for 8 years and have also homeschooled my own children. Each experience has its own challenges to overcome and rewards to enjoy. I have enjoyed coaching new teachers as well as sharing and receiving resources and ideas from teachers both new and experienced in the field.

Teaching style

I enjoy teaching with students learning along with me, sharing their thinking while I encourage them to go even deeper with their processing. We are very hands-on in first grade with hugs to all before leaving each day. My students won't remember every lesson that I spent hours preparing, but they will always remember whether or not I loved them.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was chosen as Teacher-of-the-Year in 2010-2011.

My own education history

I attended private school from Kindergarten through tenth grades and then finished the remaining years of high school at a fine arts magnet school in my hometown. I received my BA in Early Childhood Education and later completed my Masters in Integrating Technology in the Classroom.

Additional biographical information

I married my high school sweetheart and we have two children. My oldest son was diagnosed with cancer when he was eleven years old, and that has been a test of faith, strength, and balance. I am very active in church and enjoy spending time with my family, reading, crocheting, cross-stitching, and researching innovative ideas in education in my free time.
