This is my 13th year teaching in a middle school and I am currently a 6th grade resource teacher. I LOVE to create fun resources for students and teachers. My passion is learning, creating, and sharing!
Students will practice hands on equations in this fun race! If you have Hands-On Equations Kits, students should use them to help set up and solve the problems. If you have taught equations the traditional way, students may show their work in the boxes and solve. Students love to be challenged and this is a motivational activity to get their minds wrapped around algebra!
Integer quiz for use after learning integers. Students will demonstrate their understanding of the basic rules for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing integers. They will fill in the blank and compute multiple problems. At the end, students will have three real-world problem solving questions that have to do with integers.
Math project for students to display 8 different topics they have learned on an octahedron plate display. Students will choose 8 math topics (could be all from one unit or from the entire year) and brainstorm a list of vocabulary for each concept. After brainstorming, students will come up with example problems for each topic. When students have finished their brainstorming sheet, they will assemble an octahedron out of 8 paper plates to display their information. This can be used as a culmi
This is a two-sided worksheet that focuses on multiplying and dividing fraction word problems. There is work space for students to set up an equation and show their work to solve the problems. You can use this as a warm-up, guided lesson, partner work, or individual work. The worksheet could also be used as homework or an assessment.
This is a quick and easy reference for students to use when multiplying/dividing by whole number powers of ten and decimal powers of ten. Instead of working these type of problems out, students can simply learn the rules in order to do them in their head.
Students will be able to add integers with different signs by using a number line and positive/negative counters (signs). This worksheet can be used as a supplement to teaching integers, small group activity or individually. Students will also use real-world problem solving involving positive and negative integers. At the end, students will use a number line as a guide to help order integers from least to greatest.
Students will learn about tessellations in this fun, interactive Web-Quest! Throughout the Web-Quest, students will define the following terms: tessellation (natural and man-made), transformation (translation, rotation, reflection), symmetry, polygon and many more! Students will read about the history of tessellations, draw three different examples of tessellations and three picture examples of a translation, rotation, and reflection. Use this as a preview to a tessellation unit and have studen
A short quiz/check in for students on ratios and unit rates. You can use this as a guided lesson, warm up, quiz, homework and/or partner sheet. Problems include: writing ratios in three different ways, simplifying ratios, writing equivalent ratios, completing ratios, and word problems.
Use this vocabulary word poster rubric to grade students' vocab posters. This can be used in combination with my other products, Vocabulary Pictionary and Vocabulary Word Search.
I use this choice board in my Academic Skills class, which is like a study hall. When students are done with their homework, they can take out this choice board and pick something to work on for the rest of the class period. The choices fall under the following categories (CRAFT): Create, Research, Achieve, Fun, and Teach. I decided I wanted to make something that would involve different types of skills that I want my students to work on. There are four different boards (only one box is diff
Students will work with partners to play this interactive inequalities game! Each student will take turns to spin for an inequality sign, operation symbol and will roll 3 dice to find three numbers to put on their board. Once all of this is completed, students will look at the inequality that is displayed and determine if it is true or false.
There are many ways you can use this game, my suggestion is to laminate it and use with a vis a vis marker so that it can be used multiple times. An
Students will work on finding text evidence from all 15 chapters. Three questions from each chapter are included. All of the answers are found within the text. At the end, students will write a review of the book and rate it out of five stars (they can shade in the number of stars they would like to rate the book).
Interactive Smartboard file to teach rational numbers to students. Includes definition, example problems and brain teaser. Use as an introduction to rational numbers, whole group practice and/or individual practice for check-ins.
Have students go on a shopping spree to find the cost of different items! You can use magazines, ads, etc. for students to browse and select their products. After finding the product, have students cut and paste the picture on their Shopping Spree packet. If using computers, students can print the pictures and then cut them out to paste on the packet. Students must then list the actual price and practice rounding to the nearest dollar amount for the estimated price. At the end, students wil
Integer exit slip that can be used as a check in on students' understanding of integers. Multiple choice problems and comparing negatives to positives. Use at the end of a lesson before students leave.
I just figured out how to make these awesome binder covers! I originally made these in Google Slides but uploaded them as a Power Point. Everything can be customized so edit as you wish, print them out and then slide them into a binder cover sleeve for any binder you choose. Enjoy :)
Use this quiz to test your students' knowledge of prepositions, prepositional phrases, and pronouns as objects. Short and sweet! Answer key is included.
A comic book project for Pax by Sara Pennypacker. Students will choose from three options to create a comic book about the story. They will use the plot-line diagram to demonstrate their knowledge of the parts that make up a story. A rubric is attached to score their work along with two peer review forms. You can edit this document however you would like to fit the needs of your class. Enjoy :)
Students will learn about equivalent fractions, writing fractions in simplest form, finding least common denominator, improper fractions, mixed numbers and adding fractions. There are plenty of practice problems and instructional/fun videos included in this Smart Notebook file. Vocabulary is also included as well as learning targets. Use as an introduction to a fraction unit.
