Not only is this project a wonderful final project when covering NGSS MS-ESS2-1, it is also the perfect project to integrate science with writing standards as well as visual arts. In this project, students create a pet rock and write a book about the rock's journey through the rock cycle. This is creative project requires students to apply content about the cycling of earth's materials at a higher level. It is engaging, and one of the highlights of the year for students.
