Foldable Notes Transformations of Linear Functions in Function Notation

Included in this download is three foldables and three half sheets of practice problems over linear transformations in function notation. The foldables are as follows: 1. vertical transforations: discover the effects on the graph of f(x)=x on af(x) and f(x)+d over values of a and d. 2. horizontal transformations: discover the effects on the graph of f(x)=x on f(bx) and f(x-c) over vales of b and c. 3. summary of all linear transformations: summarize the effects on the function af(bx-c)+d for va

Foldable Domain and Range of Real World Linear Functions

This is a foldable for domain and range of linear functions, both continuous and discrete scenarios. The is great for an interactive notebook. Students simply fold the notes in half and glue them in. the inside of the foldable is set up as flow maps with steps to help them determine the domain or range of the situation. The steps are as follows: Step 1: identify the variables Step 2: determine if the situation is discrete or continuous Step 3: create a representation to help solve the problem (

Foldable Notes Transformations of the Quadratic Parent Function

Included in this download is three foldables and three half sheets of practice problems over quadratic transformations in function notation. The foldables are as follows: 1. vertical transforations: discover the effects on the graph of f(x)=x^2 on af(x) and f(x)+d over values of a and d. 2. horizontal transformations: discover the effects on the graph of f(x)=x^2 on f(bx) and f(x-c) over vales of b and c. 3. summary of all quadratic transformations: summarize the effects on the function af(bx-c

Foldable Methods for Solving Quadratic Equations

This is a foldable covering 4 methods for solving quadratic equations. The methods are: -complete the square -factoring -quadratic formula -square root method All the equations have the same solutions but look different, which is intended to help students determine the best method when solving. I have also included a half sheet of practice problems. Together this is a great set of notes for an interactive notebook! This foldable corresponds to the Texas Algebra 1 TEK A.8A: solve quadratic eq

Experience

Teaching style

I am going into my fifth year of using interactive notebooks with my students and I absolutely love them! Many of my former students have come back telling me that they use them in their upper level math classes. I also make foldable, use cooperative learning strategies and graphic organizers. I use a lot of color and try to get my students to talk and write about math as much as possible. I incorporate technology when it benefits my students, and I encourage them to solve problems using multiple representations.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Nominated for Teacher of the Year multiple times

My own education history

Graduated from Honors from the University of Texas at Austin

Additional biographical information

I live in Texas with my husband and two cats. When I am not creating engaging activities for my students, I am crocheting, gardening, cooking, birding, or binge watching Netflix!
