Your students will ease into the world of coordinates (ordered pairs) by plotting small shapes on a grid. Then they'll build up their plotting stamina by mapping larger shapes. They'll be rewarded by being able to make this pleasing symmetrical snowflake image.
Did you know that there are 12 types of addition and subtraction word problems (story problems) identified in the Common Core Math Standards? Actually there is a little overlap between types, but even so, that is a whole lot of different scenarios to understand and tackle!
This resource will present your students (or teachers) with examples of all the types of story problems presented by the Common Core Math Standards. Print these pages singly, or as a workbook, or as laminated cards. U
I came up with this activity in response to the second grade Common Core Math Standard 2.G.A.2: Partition a rectangle into rows and columns of same-size squares and count to find the total number of them.
The rectangles on these four activity pages can be divided exactly into 1" rows and columns. Your students will use a ruler to mark the edges into inches, then joins the marks to create rows and columns. They will then count the squares to find the total number.
There are many sub-skil
Easy-to-follow scaffolded worksheets guide your students' thinking through the multi-step process of estimating sums and differences of 2-digit numbers. Your students will thank you for breaking down this daunting task into easy steps, starting with the art of rounding up and rounding down.

More fun than linear skip counting exercises, students write the numbers on beads arranged in bracelets according to the rule. Six bracelets per page, six beads per bracelet. Addition and subtraction of a single digit starting from a gven number on the first bead. On pages 7 and 8, the students must figure out the rule for themselves. Page 9 is a blank master for you or your students to devise more puzzles. I would not assign them all at once... I give one or two per lesson over a couple wee
This scaffolded workbook will guide your students through the tricky parts of learning to tell time to the half hour. By the end of this twelve-page workbook, your students will be be able to tell and write the time using digital and analog expressions.

Common Core Math Standard K.OA.4. requires that Kindergarten students should find the number that makes 10 when added to a given number from 1 to 9 by using objects or drawings, and record the answer with a drawing or equation. In this engaging activity, your students will count raindrops and draw additional raindrops to make 10, then record their equations in the spaces provided.

Your students will understand the place value of hundreds, tens and units when you use this set of scaffolded worksheets with them. They will be able to write the value of the underlined digit in no time!
This PowerPoint will guide your students through the process of partitioning a rectangle into same-size squares using a ruler to measure columns and rows in inches. Most of it is animated and proceeds without mouse clicks.
Follow up this presentation with the activity sheets posted separately: Partition A Rectangle Into Same-Size Squares: Four Activity Pages.
