Aquaponics is a sustainable system that combines two forms of agriculture. The first is Aquaculture (raising aquatic creatures such as fish, snails or crustaceans). The second is hydroponics (growing/cultivating plants in water). My PowerPoint contains detailed instructions and pictures on how to create a low cost and proven system that can be easily setup both in and outdoors. Your students grades 6-12 will love this hands-on learning opportunity and will be amazed how fast their plants wil

About the store

Experience

I have been teaching for 14 years now. I'm currently teaching both Health and Physical Education classes at the High School level. However, the first 8 years of my career was spent teaching Special Education.

Teaching style

My teaching style has evolved over the years. I believe in giving my students real-world experiences. I try to create lessons/learning opportunities that are relevant to their lives and those that will prepare them for success in higher education and eventually a career.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I'm still hoping for the state of Hawaii Teacher of the Year nod & the 20k check that comes with it. Until then... TpT:) On a serious note, my greatest joy is to see my students make better of their lives. Whether going on to higher education, obtaining their dream career, or simply believing they are capable of more; this is why I teach.

My own education history

I received my undergraduate in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Physical Education, grades K-12 from the University of Northern Colorado. I also attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa and earned my Masters of Science with an emphasis in Adapted Physical Education.

Additional biographical information

In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my two beautiful children and my wife who is also an educator. I have a great love for the outdoors and sports and will go fishing, work in my garden, and watch Football all Sunday whenever time or my wife permits.
