Napier's Bones - A Manipulative for Understanding the Multiplication Algorithm
SMARTBOARD presentation outlining the history and development of Napier's Bones, also known as Napier's Rods, which are used to help students understand the algorithm for multiplication. Students can manipulate the digital 'rods' given in the presentation. Using the directions given, students can also make their own rods for personal use to solve multi-digit multiplication problems.
