Here is a bundled package I created for NYC DOE's Grade 2 Social Studies Scope and Sequence Unit 2: New York City Over Time. It has a portfolio piece with a teacher/student rubric (have student complete rubric for ownership of work), and a Bulletin Board Task Card if you choose to hang it up.

Here is a good activity to encourage collaboration for Turn-and-Talk Higher Order Thinking questions. The students have accountability, get involved, and build off conversations. Best of all, it's fun!

I use reference charts all over my classroom, but decided to make ones to be used in a vertical flip-chart. I like using these when I'm reading with a small group to help them focus on reading skills and strategies (main idea/key details, fact vs opinion, figurative language, etc).. It is multiple pages long.

I made a graphic organizer and a "sentence starter sheet," which has a student self-evaluation rubric on the bottom so they can take ownership over their work. This is a "I Wish My Teacher Knew..." I dislike the Wonder Works Weekly Assessment questions. They are complicated, and my students become confused with "Find this word and put a box around it," or "Underline the sentence that helps you understand what this word means." I created this generic form letter for teachers to give to parents. It is especially useful to provide information to families new to the city, country, and the school system. This is something I created for my students for when they have to turn and talk to each other. I like that it's colorful and simple, with an added explanatory picture for students who have trouble reading. Print it out and make each side the same (tape a craft stick to one side and staple the pages together. I actually laminated them and then stapled them. One student holds it up and both students are able to read what it says.
