I was an International Teacher for over 15 years in 4 different countries. The most amazing aspect of teaching overseas is that we differentiate among students and teach at their level. One standardized test a year solely for the reason to become better as a school...nothing connected to governmental funds. I developed hands on curriculum for many social sciences over the years. Most of what I have on this platform is my work with Special Education Adults in Career Education and Self Awareness. The lessons impacted those students greatly so I have bits and pieces of those here.

G.R.I.T. : Great lesson for the start of the year!
This is a two-part lesson as in an Introduction to GRIT. GRIT is a mindset that encourages students to see their brains as a growth tools. This lesson teaches what each letter represents when learning about GRIT and engages the students to discuss G.R.I.T. in their own life.

This lesson is part of the class "Self-Awareness". It is a quick lesson on the introduction of what Self Advocacy is. Many times we tell students to advocate for themselves but we have never actually taught them what it is and why it is important. This lesson gives students an idea of what self advocating is and allows them to practice advocating for themselves.

Self Awareness 4 Modifying Behavior
This is the fourth lesson in the Self Awareness series. It dives a bit deeper into modifying behavior with recognizing thoughts. If we are aware of the thoughts we tell ourselves and what is healthy and what is not healthy then we can modify that behavior by modifying the thought. This lesson mainly focuses on the categories of thoughts that are harmful such as "all or none" thinking.

This is the third lesson in the Self Awareness Series (class). Self control truly comes from what we tell ourselves and how much we listen to those thoughts. In order to be in control of ourselves we need to be self aware. This lesson gives some insight on what kind of negative thoughts we may tell ourselves and how do we transform those negative thoughts into positive ones.

Teaching style
My teaching style involves a lot of movement, hands on and discussion. I believe nothing is truly learned until a student is able to process it, verbalize it in their own words, and teach it to other students. I have always taught diverse students with a huge range of ability and took advantage of the true benefits of processing through talking, sharing, discussing, building, showing, teaching, moving and etc. You will rarely see me "talking at" my students for very long. We have a 10 minute lesson and then we get down to business to actually learn by the above processing techniques.
My own education history
I am a certified Elementary Teacher PreK-6th, Health Education K-12 in Wisconsin and Texas and have my Masters in International Counseling. I have taught and coached from ages 4 years old to 20 years old.
