I am planning to assemble the books ahead of time (one per child) then read through the book large group stopping to let the kids add illustrations along the way. I think the kids will really enjoy the interactiveness of the book and being able to create their own illustrations. I will probably show different examples of how to draw the plants on the board.

Teaching style

Kat - My teaching style is centered around building positive relationships with my students. I want them to trust me that the knowledge I'm sharing with them is important. Typical lessons include modeling, movement, communication, hands-on learning, guided discovery, independent practice, and constructive feedback. I find my students learn best with mini-lessons that build on previous lessons. I also love to be a little silly at times! Squirrel - With a compulsion like a squirrel gathering nuts, I like to unscribble any problem, desire or design need that I can.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Kat - I am honored to be trusted with the education of my 6-7 year olds each and every day.

Squirrel - I currently live in Central California with my husband and our dog, Boonabean. My happy place is floating on a raft on Arnold Creek, Hatfield, WI. (In the summer!)
