This lesson plan is a low prep, fully written, researched-based text structure lesson. As adults, 80% of what we are reading is non-fiction. Students are being tested using non-fiction texts, but our student's comprehension of non-fiction texts is failing. To increase our student's comprehension we must be teaching them how to read and interact with non-fiction text. Teaching children how to read non-fiction starts with teaching text structure.
