This product is a handout with links to internet resources to help teach the Rhetorical Appeals, ethos, logos, and pathos. This handout requires students to learn about these 3 techniques for persuasion and identify their effectiveness in advertisements. In also include a writing piece.

In this activity, you will need the movie The Book Thief. This could be used with the novel as well. I used it an assessment over the skills of creating and supporting claims related to characterization. In my class, we first read Forgotten Fire and analyzed Vahan throughout it. In order to see that they could analyze characterization outside of just that book, they then applied that skill to the movie. This product includes 7 poems that connect to the novel Forgotten Fire by Adam Bagdasarian. These poems share similar themes and experiences as the characters from the novel and helps students draw connections between the two. This product includes objectives and tasks for each poem, instructing students to do a close reading for each piece. I used this in my classroom by having students work in groups of 3. This product is a detailed PowerPoint presentation that prepares students for a discussion about some of the topics raised in The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. You can think of this activity as something you lead or as a WebQuest for students to follow in order to have a discussion later. This product asks students to reread and analyze key 3 key passages from Act I of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. To analyze the passage, students must close read the left side and then provide a translation of the mean on the right. Then, they use their ideas to create an interpretation by interpreting specific details with a few questions. As a bonus, I added journal entry prompts that can be used throughout a Julius Caesar Unit.

This product is a form students must fill out in order to reassess an assignment. While students should have the option to reassess in order to show mastery, they should have to show that they have practiced the skills. This form will help you keep track of that.

This product is a quick exit slip for students to complete and self-assess their ability to complete that days objective. This will help you receive feedback and plan for the next day by reviewing what your students do or don't know.

This product is a Daily Assignment sheet where students can write a brief description of the lesson from class and the homework for that evening. I use this to keep in class for students to see what occurred in class if they were absent and what they need to make up.

This product is a 2-week handout that you can use to have your students write their bellringers, "do nows," etc as they come into class. I don't know why the preview shows up like that. When you download them, the days of the week should be aligned to the left.

This is a really fun activity and super helpful for getting those students who are typically very quiet involved. In this activity, students reflect on what they have learned or noticed within Adam Bagdasarian's novel, Forgotten Fire. During the activity, students read the sheet of paper, write a response, and then pass it to the next person. As they pass it around they can respond to each other or develop ideas. You can increase the rigor by requiring textual evidence.

This is a basic Graphic Organizer to help students take notes on characterization. It includes a spot for the character trait and the textual evidence to support that inference.
