About the store
I try to create activities that contain some kind of meaning or purpose related to real life. I've found that keeping things engaging and relevant is a major key to student buy-in, and thus, student success. A lot of my activities are also based on life experience growing up with family in the special needs community. I look at activities from not only the teacher side (what concepts will be taught) but the family side (how will this make a difference to their future) and the student side (what might they find interesting or boring).

Basic Math Review Jeopardy
This game is great for general review. Students with special needs frequently need to go back and review those basic arithmetic concepts in order to proceed with grade level material. This jeopardy game goes back to the very basics of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with a few word problems thrown in. Fully functioning power point Jeopardy game.

Introduction to Division
Introduce division at a concrete level, then move slowly to representational. Starts from the beginning of the concept of division and scaffold upwards to basic division problems. Has plenty of practice problems. Should take 1 day.

Multiplication Baseball
Keep the multiplication drills fun by making it a baseball game. Students use playing cards to get to factors to multiply. The product tells them how many bases they can go. This is a fun way to keep kids practicing. In my experience they tend to begin to correct each other when mistakes are made and have great discussions on different methods to use to find the product.

A brief study guide for subtraction skills. It addresses regrouping, decimals and word problems. Great for EC students who are older but still working on basic skills.

Teaching style
In teaching EC students, I have found the need for many hands-on activities. I can't stand doing all worksheets and formal notes. We have to get down and dirty with math.
My own education history
I have a Bachelor's in Special Education with a concentration in Math.
