This is a hands-on unit activity that allows students to be assigned a particular biome, create a presentation to teach the class about their specific biome, and then present this information to the class. This is a unit long activity that takes a large majority of the 9 weeks. This activity includes a group assignment which the students then break into specific roles in order to focus on specific content, they then must create a presentation and a diorama using provided resources.

Experience

Teaching style
I am a hands-on teacher. I believe students learn best when they are actively engaged in the material. This requires a lot of prep work and standards of excellence on my part. I also have to establish a trustworthy environment with my students at an early date during the school year. Teaching should be fun for all involved, not just the teacher. By allowing my students to explore their creative side during the teaching days, they are more invested in their own learning and have a tendency to grasp concepts at a quicker rate.
