This is a multi-day mini unit that I put together to practice stem changing verbs in the present tense, verbs like gustar in the present tense, as well as sports vocabulary. This was originally developed to accompany the textbook Así se Dice 1 Chapter 7, but can be used outside of that. This was insanely popular with my class when I introduced it, students were very engaged in class during the whole unit. Purchase includes: -An original story in Spanish about Lebron James announcing the Olympic

Students will use resources such as the Spain FIBA website and videos of basketball games in Spain to learn about basketball culture in Spain. Both the men’s and women’s teams are covered, with a feature on Spanish-Congolese player Serge Ibaka. There is some reading in Spanish and English, very doable for early Spanish 2 stude

This is a mini cultural project about Pablo Picasso. The powerpoint is a Google Slides presentation that will, in the target language, give a little background on the life of Pablo Picasso, share some of his most famous (school appropriate) works, have questions for response in the TL, and a mini project where students create a self portrait in Picasso's famous cubism style. I have typically done this in Spanish 2, but it could be adapted for Spanish 1 and also work well in upper levels. Using t

This unit is optimized to go with the textbook series Asi Se Dice 1 chapter 8, however it can be used without it! This unit covers some irregular preterite verbs, -er/-ir preterite endings, and the matching vocabulary. I have also included a cultural aspect where students have a chance to learn about artists Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso in the target language. In the places where I would have you supplement with a worksheet from the textbook, either make your own resources or use Quizlet, Qui

This is an interactive google slides presentation that helps students to practice location words in Spanish (for ex - cerca de, dentro de) along with school supplies vocabulary. I originally created this resource to go along with the Avancemos curriculum, but have continued to use it with the Así se Dice textbook series with no problems.  This activity usually takes students about 20-25 minutes to complete and they often find it very fun and interactive. Additionally, it is quick to grade just b

Originally made to accompany the textbook series Asi Se Dice 2 Capitulo 2, this higher level reading activity can be used with any textbook series or curriculum covering camping vocabulary. The article is an authentic reading in Spanish. At 6 pages long, it can feel daunting to students. However, if you have them read the questions first, or have them work in partners, it is very achievable for them. I had no issue with my Spanish 3 and 4 classes being able to complete this reading. If you have been teaching Spanish verbs using implicit learning but want or need to give more “traditional” or explicit instruction, this is the resource for you. I made this when I moved to a school district that uses explicit instruction to teach verb conjugation, and it was the perfect bridge between implicit and explicit instruction.  This powerpoint uses the verbs that students have most likely learned early in the year including ser, tener, and necesitar. Students will follow along on thei

The students will read the info sheet on the tradition and then answer questions on the Google Form which is set to autograde. This activity is best for Spanish 2 or higher since the whole reading is in Spanish with a few vocab words given to them on the back of the reading. I hope this helps you out a
