About the store

I am a 5th year teacher. I spent my first two years working in Great Bend, KS and am now working in the Salem-Keizer School district. Right now my experience consists of a lot of trial and error, but I LOVE figuring out how to better my teaching both for myself and the benefit of my students. While the bulk of my job is teaching general music to my K-5 students, I also have an after school choir with my 4th and 5th grade students. It is definitely a highlight in my day! UPDATE: I am currently taking time off from teaching to raise my family. While I will still keep my store up and running, I may be slower to respond to questions and comments. Patriotic/Monthly Song Sing-a-long Bundle

In my music classroom, we sing a different Patriotic song each month. I use a slide show so that all the students can see the words. Each day a different child comes up and switches the slide. It's a great way to designate a "helper" in the music classroom! I really like to use it when my kids are just getting to know low Do so they can grasp it a little bit at a time. Acka Backa is truly just written with a So, La, Mi tone set. However, in my classroom, I like to change the very last note to do to use for when we are first introducing low Do. In my music classroom, we sing a different Patriotic song or Folk Song each month. I use a slide show so that all the students can see the words. Each day a different child comes up and switches the slide. It's a great way to designate a "helper" in the music classroom! I usually do this song during the love-themed month of May for Cinco de Mayo. We have a large Hispanic population at my school, and the kids love doing this song! I just received my Kodaly Level I certification from Portland State University. I had the privilege of learning under some incredible musicians and pedagogists including Susan Brumfield, Carol Brown, Andy Paney, Panni Kovacs, and Kurt Cereske.
