About the store

Experience

I've been teaching for 40+ years. I was an elementary science specialist for much of my career, but have been teaching gifted education for the last 20+ years.

Teaching style

My teaching style is geared to meet the needs of my students’ learning styles. Sometimes that's like spinning a dozen plates at once. To the untrained eye, this may look like chaos, but there is real, student centered learning going on...and that is not always quiet or neat. I am definitely the “guide on the side” in my classroom.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have been Teacher of the Year for my school system and NASA Teacher of the Year for my state. I have written curriculum for my State Department of Education as well as several other state agencies I conduct workshops and trainings at the local, state, and national level.

My own education history

I have a BS in elementary education from The University of Alabama, a MS in elementary education from The University of Alabama in Birmingham, and a gifted specialist certification from The University of Alabama.

Additional biographical information

Mom, Yai Yai, friend, widow, traveler, digital diva, list-maker, and a closet crafter. I'm pretty sure that if teachers ran the government, all our debt issues would be solved in short order.
