I am happy Book and Card Set

A fun way to develop early speech and language skills including understanding and using feeling words, use of "I" when referring to oneself, use of a simple sentence "I am.....", sight word reading for "I" and "am", learning to read from left to right, and turning pages in a book. About the store

Experience

I am a speech-language pathologist with many years experience working in the school system, and in private practice. I have developed specialized materials to help students with learning challenges improve skills, and become more independent.

Teaching style

For every activity I have a goal or goals based on an assessment (initial and ongoing) of the student's ability in a particular area or with a particular skill. I use visual support routinely, and break tasks down into small steps that are achievable so the student has success. I help the student get the answer correct to allow errorless learning, and solidifying the correct response. Practice during regular learning sessions is important, always with a view to carry-over to real life situations. My ultimate goal is as much student independence as possible.

Awards & shining teacher moments

The honors I have received are from teachers and parents who have used my activities and products and thank me for helping their children learn.

My own education history

I graduated from McGill University with a Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. My undergraduate degree is a B.A. with a combined major in psychology and linguistics.
