Art Social Change & Advocacy Project: Students read short explanations and facts about eight different world issues. They may research these (and others of their choice) more extensively, if desired. Students choose an issue they care about, and create an art poster that persuades others to create social change. Their artwork will creatively advocate for their cause, as well as inspire and educate others.

This is a great Back to School or Beginning of the School Year Math activity! Students reflect on their summer vacation activities, compute how much time was spent doing various things (sleeping, traveling, etc.), and convert those amounts of time into percentages. Pie charts are created according to their percentages, which are then incorporated into images that symbolize summer!

Students create hues with paint that match a magazine picture. Next, students create a color scheme by mixing tints and shades from the original hues. It's best to copy this activity on white construction paper or card stock.
