I designed this word sort for my 5th graders to review long and short vowel sounds. It also asks them to use the words they just sorted in order to identify common spelling patterns of long vowel sounds.
I tried really hard to use words that only have one vowel sound. I've found worksheets in the past that use words such as "window"... well that has a short i sound and a long o sound, so those kind of words confuse kids.
