This SMART Notebook lesson teaches students about partitioning a rectangle into rows and columns of same-size squares and count to find the total number of them. This is from the 2nd Grade Standard 2 of the Common Core. This is used to work with 2nd graders on area. Let your students interact with this lesson and create the project at the end of the lesson to make the concept something they will not only understand but be able to apply and create.

Using the Activity Builder in SMART Notebook 11 students are able to feed an alligator the numbers that answer the math greater then less than question. The Pumpkin Unit SMART
This is a great unit to start October. Let your students spend the month exploring pumpkins. This unit contains activities from exploring the pumpkin to having the teacher cut the lid off and dig out the seeds. Make a pie in a Ziploc bag. After purchasing the unit, there is a link to download the SMART Notebook file for anatomy of a pumpkin. Worksheets and all pumpkin papers are included.

Pinecone Turkey Poem and Project SMART file
Students will read the poem about "The Pinecone Turkey" and explore the vocabulary. The students will then create a turkey made from pine-cones, construction paper, googly eyes, and glue.
