This is a great unit to start October. Let your students spend the month exploring pumpkins. This unit contains activities from exploring the pumpkin to having the teacher cut the lid off and dig out the seeds. Make a pie in a Ziploc bag. After purchasing the unit, there is a link to download the PowerPoint file. Worksheets and all pumpkin papers are included.

Now you have all those pumpkin seeds, what do you do???
This activity uses those pumpkins seeds to reinforce addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Print out the "pumpkin place-mat" and have your students work the math problems out using pumpkin seeds. Print in color on card-stock front to back for years of repeated use. Makes clean up a snap. Also check out the SMART Notebook version for interactivity in the classroom.

After students have learned Box and Whiskers, this lesson will be an added technique for review. Students use internet connected mobile devices with a bar-code scanner/reader to access Box and Whiskers problems using QR Codes. Each QR Code asks the students to provide the following information: data least to greatest, mean, mode, median, range, lower extreme, lower quartile(Q1), median, upper quartile(Q3), upper extreme, and IQR.

Integer Addition 15 to -15 Problems
This set of problems includes ten pages of problems and ten pages with the answer key. Use these for classwork, homework, quizzes, or assessments. I use different sets in the classroom for variety. I also mix it up by having students work together on two different sheets, then trade and grade each other by working out the problems. Once they are satisfied they have both sheets graded and corrected they can turn it in as a teamwork grade.
