This is a grade 7 survival guide procedural writing learning task that is a terrific way to end the year. My students have enjoyed this activity as a precursor to formal debating. They have enjoyed the opportunity to have a persuasive conversation about someone that they find truly amazing! They take up the task of convincing their audience that their person is more amazing than the others that are proposed. This is a great opportunity for students to reflect on their own speaking performance and the speaking strategies used by their peers.

The Big Book Report is an evaluative piece where students demonstrate their understanding of the elements of a narrative and various critical media literacy aspects.
