Place Value Match Up Game | Up to the Hundred Thousands

Print, copy and cut for a fun math matching game in your classroom. (I would copy onto colored cardstock so you cannot see through the playing cards) Lay all the cards out, and flip over three cards. Hopefully you will find a matching standard form, word form, and expanded form. Continue taking turns and playing until all numbers and all their forms have been matched and found. *You could also play this game like SPOONS. Each person is looking to “collect” one number. Practice key math vocabulary terms with your students by speaking "Mathlish" with them! Students will see a key term, and describe it to a peer without using that word in it's description! You can play this game similar to HeadBandz - where the child places the term on their head and their partner describes, or you can play where you pick up a card and describe it to your partner, and if they get it you place it into a "got it" pile, and if not, the "review" pile. Experience

I am an advocate for anywhere anytime learning! I have taught in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms.

Teaching style

I believe in the power of relationships. Once students feel comfortable, safe, and loved - they are willing and ready to take the risks necessary to learn in the classroom. I like to use collaborative groupings, turn and talk, and meaningful integration of technology in the classroom so that students can learn from one another and the world around them.

My own education history
