Place Value Match Up Game | Up to the Hundred Thousands

Print, copy and cut for a fun math matching game in your classroom. (I would copy onto colored cardstock so you cannot see through the playing cards) Lay all the cards out, and flip over three cards. Hopefully you will find a matching standard form, word form, and expanded form. Continue taking turns and playing until all numbers and all their forms have been matched and found. *You could also play this game like SPOONS. Each person is looking to “collect” one number. Do a quick youtube search

Student self assessment is such a valuable tool for both students and teachers. Use this simple 4-1 rating system (accompanied by pictorial representations) as a way for you to gauge student understanding and confidence regarding taught content. Copy onto colorful paper that matches your decor or leave B & W.

Using the Fry List, I've compiled short 3-4 word phrases for students to use to help with fluency and phrasing as a warm up for Guided Reading. (I've gone up to list 4 with this product) This product is a fully editable powerpoint presentation, so tweak as you see fit! I plan on printing on different colored card stock to differentiate, and then hole punching and putting on rings so that students can read through. Students can practice reading in different voices, or with different feelings, fo

Real Life Classroom Jobs

My goal in the classroom is to inspire kiddos on a daily basis and show them that the things we're doing in the classroom can transfer to their daily lives - and especially their lives as they grow up! For that reason, it's always bothered me to have class jobs like "door holder" or "substitute" - because that's not necessarily something you can grow up and have as a career. So instead, I've come up with career titles that students could actually grow up to be. Included are 8 jobs (listed below)

Math Fact Easter Egg Hunt

This activity was designed as a collaboration activity between a first grade and second grade classroom. Teachers hid 96 easter eggs, which inside contained math facts. All addition and subtraction facts had an answer of 12, 13, or 14 which could be recorded in a tally graph. Students then collected six eggs (or pieces of data) and then turned their tally chart into a bar graph. After creating a bar graph, students wrote two sentences to analyze the chart. In this download, you'll get the recor

Reviewing 2nd Grade Key Terms with "Mathlish"

Practice key math vocabulary terms with your students by speaking "Mathlish" with them! Students will see a key term, and describe it to a peer without using that word in it's description! You can play this game similar to HeadBandz - where the child places the term on their head and their partner describes, or you can play where you pick up a card and describe it to your partner, and if they get it you place it into a "got it" pile, and if not, the "review" pile. This completely editable do

Use these questions are way to ensure that the questions you are asking in class align with the content standards. Instead of thinking in terms of “I Can” think in terms of “Can You..?”These questions are aligned with the 3rd grade South Carolina College & Career Readiness Standards for Communication. With each standard, there are questions you can pose to students - which require a higher level of thinking. If there are specific things that they need to include in their answer, it is listed

Experience

I am an advocate for anywhere anytime learning! I have taught in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms.

Teaching style

I believe in the power of relationships. Once students feel comfortable, safe, and loved - they are willing and ready to take the risks necessary to learn in the classroom. I like to use collaborative groupings, turn and talk, and meaningful integration of technology in the classroom so that students can learn from one another and the world around them.

My own education history

Summa Cum Laude graduate of Rider University
