I created this product for two purposes. First, to review graphing (tally charts, bar graphs, and picture graphs) and analyzing data. Second, to introduce students to atypical polygons. Often, students have a concrete picture of what a triangle SHOULD look like, what a quadrilateral SHOULD look like, etc. This activity has students thinking flexibly, and relying on their understanding of defining features of polygons instead of an exemplar picture in their head to determine what kind of polygon

This activity was designed as a collaboration activity between a first grade and second grade classroom. Teachers hid 96 easter eggs, which inside contained math facts. All addition and subtraction facts had an answer of 12, 13, or 14 which could be recorded in a tally graph. Students then collected six eggs (or pieces of data) and then turned their tally chart into a bar graph. After creating a bar graph, students wrote two sentences to analyze the chart.
