I was struggling to find lesson ideas for my special needs movement students as many of the activities I could find would be more advanced than they could handle. This lesson is designed for special need students but would easily work with lower elementary school. Included are a link to a "warm up dance", circle activity and main activity using body shapes that can easily be adapted.

Experience

Hi! I am an inner city dance, drama, English and psychology teacher who has also taught french, a little phys ed, some special education movement classes and whatever else they throw at me.

Teaching style

Do what works!! I am a little crazy and silly, pretty good at embarrassing myself in front of my students and the first to make fun of myself. I think it can easily said that I'm pretty laid back overall in my style and like a mix of directed teaching and providing my student with the opportunity to get creative!

My own education history

Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Film, Bachelor of Education, PBDE in Education, Masters of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Writing and New Media and Literary Studies

Additional biographical information

In my spare time I'm a proud parent to far too many fur babies and a lover of Disney, the lake life and travel.
