This is an Anticipation Guide that may be used to introduce the thematic elements of the novel, Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech. It includes 8 statements that students will evaluate before reading and a space for their explanation. The class should discuss their answers after responding. Once students finish reading the novel, they should re-evaluate their answers and see if any changed.

A final assessment for the novel, The Outsiders. It includes a character matching section, multiple choice comprehension questions, a figurative language fill in the blank section, a quote analysis section, themes, symbols, and foreshadowing. An answer key has been included.

This is a definition essay for The Outsiders. Students start with a word that is tied in with a theme of the novel. They will write a 5 paragraph essay in which they demonstrate the understanding of the word in the novel, their own life, and the world. Students are making text to text, text to self, and text to world connections through the essay while demonstrating their ability to analyze the novel.
