About the store
High school is my home. For the past seven years, I've taught a good variety of courses, from teamed and regular English (9-11) to English 9 and 10 Honors, AP Language and Composition and most recently AP Capstone (Seminar). I try to be active at my school, running the school's writing center, sponsoring clubs ranging from NEHS to the school's yo-yo club. I love where I am, and I love teaching high school kids. I hope I can share some of the joys and successes I have experienced at my school with you. I also hope to learn all I can from this community.

In this creative but analytical assignment, students read through the story and pull quotes they find intriguing, then refashion them to make a poem that expresses something interesting about the play -- a particular theme, character, symbol, feeling. Students must then justify their reasons for writing the poem as they did (what creative decisions did they make to express this theme? character? feeling?)

Teaching style
I share a student-centered philosophy with many of my colleagues. I do mix in direct instruction, but often when I do, I still try to make it interactive.

I live in Northern Virginia with my wife and two crazy but lovable dogs! We have a baby boy on the way, due this June!
