This activity provides background information about Walt Whitman, comprehension questions about his 1860 poem "I Hear America Singing," and a worksheet for students to write their own modern versions of "I Hear America Singing."

This is a very basic graphic organizer and pre-writing page for my 9th grade English Learners below ACCESS level 2.0. The packet includes an assignment description, a graphic organizer, and a fill-in pre-writing sheet. The pre-writing sheet covers three paragraphs: introduction and thesis, one body paragraph, and a conclusion.

This document includes the directions for a three paragraph character analysis essay. It also includes a pre-writing/ graphic organizer page for students to use to help them format their papers.

This script was designed for middle school English Language Learners to practice working with money and role playing the roles of cashier and customer. It is suggested that the teacher brings in the household items pictured on the script and money manipulatives for students to work with. The script would be appropriate for an ESL classroom or any upper-level elementary classroom learning to work with money. The amounts do not surpass $1. The concept of making change is not addressed.
