I have taught both adult and elementary-aged English Learners in mainstream and sheltered classrooms. I even taught second grade for a year! I'm now teaching high school English Learners of all different ability levels and backgrounds.

Teaching style

I like my class to be fun and interactive! I strive to incorporate Sheltered Instruction Observational Protocol (SIOP) strategies into my teaching. I love doing projects and hands-on activities, as well an incorporating multicultural literature and other resources to celebrate my students' diversity.

When I'm not teaching or creating things for my students, I love hiking, traveling around the world, and creative writing! I'm the author of "Messages From Maryam," a children's book based on the stories of my refugee students from Iraq. Check it out on Amazon!
